A KIRKHAM bookshop took part in Independent Booksellers' Week.
The Scroll Bookshop decided, in conjunction with the highly successful Kirkham and Wesham Football Club – now AFC Fylde – to arrange a “Design a Bookmark” competition and invite Year Six pupils from the six local schools to participate.

The children were given a choice of either a favourite book, a building in the town or the football club as the theme for their design and the numerous entries included all three possibilities.

The entries were judged by members of the team and the winners were: First: Bethany Ackers; second: Thomas Barker; third: Elliot Smith.

Entrants received gift vouchers and the winners, all from St Michael’s Church of England Primary School, were presented with their prizes at The Scroll Bookshop by footballer Matt Walwyn.
