T
he proposed development forms part of a new Lytham Quays masterplan, including business, leisure and residential accommodation that Kensington say will transform the derelict and redundant Dock Road area into a “thriving new sustainable area where people can live and work in a waterfront setting”.
The Lytham Quays masterplan includes:
n A new high tech business park.
n Waterfront public open space with estuary footpaths and landscaped gardens.
n 285 new high quality, eco-friendly family homes including; starter homes for first time buyers, mews houses, sheltered accommodation for the elderly and waterfront apartments.
Kensington says: “The innovative design isn’t just environmentally sound; it will create a truly sustainable local community.
“At the core of the proposal will be a relaxing waterfront open space for public use that will provide a pleasant, safe and secure pedestrian environment for residents and visitors to enjoy.
“The redevelopment represents a multi million pound investment in the future of the borough. Construction work, creating over 200 jobs, could start in mid-2009 subject to the necessary planning approvals.”
