A LEADING author is visiting Lytham.
Gervase Phinn visits the Methodist Hall, Upper Westby Street, on Thursday July 3, from 7pm.

The event, organised by Lytham's Plackitt and Booth booksellers, will feature one of Mr Phinn's famous talks.

A spokeswoman for Plackitt and Booth, said: "He is not only a bestselling author but is also a a famously entertaining speaker and this is an unmissable opportunity to hear him.

"He will be reading from his latest paperback – Heart of the Dales – which is the last in the hit series of his reminiscences of his life: first as a teacher and then as a schools' inspector, in Yorkshire.

Each book has hit the best- seller list thanks to his comic anecdotes of the disarming honesty of the children he has met."

Heart of the Dales features awkward teachers, pompous school governors and fearsome lollipop ladies which made Mr Phinn's hectic job as a school inspector more difficult.

Tickets are available from Plackitt and Booth Booksellers, Clifton Street, Lytham, at £2 each.
