Kirkham and Wesham FC win FA Vase
KIRKHAM and Wesham FC have won the FA Vase.
Seventeen-year-old Matt Walwyn, the substitute, struck twice in the space of five minutes to bring the trophy back to the Fylde after beating Lowestoft 2-1.
Kirkham and Wesham had fallen behind to a 10th minute own goal from defender Phil Thompson.
They had come close on 72 minutes when Smith's cross evaded goalkeeper Reynolds and landed at the feet of Patterson, who squared it for Blackwell. But his shot was blocked on the line by a defender.
Walwyn had only been on the pitch six minutes when he scored a
a vital equaliser, which had looked likely to take the tie into extra-time. But minutes later, he scored the winning goal to secure a victory for the Fylde side.
