THE countdown has begun to Kirkham and Wesham Club Day this weekend.

But villagers are being warned that the event could easily fold if people do not continue to support it.
The joint churches committee is pleading with all businesses - local and non-local - to make a donation towards the running costs of the event on Saturday.
Steve Cross, chairman of the joint club day committee, said: "Kirkham and Wesham Club Day is a great procession of witness in which all the churches of the towns participate.
"This tradition goes back over one hundred years. It is a very popular and enjoyable family, church and community event and the children love it."
However he warned: "Each year the costs of maintaining this event are spiralling - insurances, hire of cones, barriers etc.
"Without financial help this annual event will potentially die out.
"It is very important to retain this century old tradition for the benefit of both the community spirit and of businesses based in the town.
"Any donation, however small, would help and we would be most grateful. Even members of the pubic can donate."
Meanwhile, the procession takes place between 9am-noon.
The rose and may queens of six of the town's churches are joined on the three mile route by brass bands, church banners, tableaux, as well as most of the children from local schools.
As regards funding, anyone who wishes to make a donation can either ring Steve on 01253 390678, or send him a cheque payable to Kirkham and Wesham Joint Club Day Committee at 2 Sandpiper Close, Heron Reach, Blackpool FY3 8FJ.
