COURAGEOUS cancer victim Charlotte Speak has been given the all clear after an 18-month battle with the disease.
Charlotte, 21, daughter of Newton Councillor Heather Speak, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in May last year and had to undergo three major operations before she was out of the woods.
And now the family, who live in Wharles, want to give somethin
g back by fundraising for Royal Preston Hospital and specialist cancer hospital Christies in Manchester, where Charlotte was treated.
A charity evening, which has been organised to raise cash for the causes, will be held at the Salwick Club on Friday October 17.
Coun Speak said: "Last week Charlotte was given the all clear and we're absolutely delighted.
"We're so grateful for the help and support of the local community."
The money raised for the Royal Preston Hospital will be given to the Rosemere Ray of Hope Appeal - which hopes to generate some £650,000 to provide image Guided Radiotherapy equipment at the hospital.
Coun Speak explained: "We wanted to give something back to those who had helped Charlotte and this equipment will be able to provide treatment to people across the Fylde Coast."
"We're really looking forward to it and I think it's going to be a great night"
The fundraiser takes place at the Salwick Club at BNFL and begins at 8pm. Tickets are £5 and are available on the door.
